Patrick Sanders is an illustrator
whose work has taken him all
across the UK, Ireland and
beyond. His pictures have been
used not only for publication,
but also as documentation tools.
Patrick specialises in a clean,
cartoon style, usually black-and-
white pen and ink work, but also coloured pencil, paint, pastel and felt-tip. He always works by hand, even on the meticulous shading that characterises his work.
In 2006 he began using illustrations to document rehearsals at the Centre of Excellence in the Creative and Performing Arts at Queens University. This led to further work documenting conferences and processes (see “In Action”). He is artist-in-residence for the Immersive Experience project at SCEPTrE at the Unversity of Surrey
He currently lives in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but his work continues to take him to all the weird and wonderful places he used to dream about, and some even more so.
Patrick has been working with the CECPA at Queen's University Belfast since 2006, and has been commissioned to draw a report on CECPA's exciting creative work. Part comic book, part manifesto, Journey to the Centre of Excellence will be published in October 2010. For your free copy, email Anna Newell at a.newell@qub.ac.uk
